Fall Concert: Fall In Love with the Music

by Diana Vilchis

Move over, summer festivals; ASI’s Fall Concert brought Coachella-level heat. This was not just a concert though it was a celebration of music, fashion and the vibrant spirit of Cal State Fullerton. Get ready to relive the night, because we are diving deep into the sounds and styles that made the first-ever Fall Concert one for the books.

CSUF’s campus transformed with anticipation as thousands of students and music lovers from across Orange County gathered for the annual Fall Concert. This year’s lineup invited audiences on a sonic journey through indie soundscapes and electrifying beats, featuring a diverse array of artists including the dreamy vibes of the Two Lips, the captivating performance from Snow Wife, the genre-bending rap-rock sounds of Paris Texas and house beats from Zack Fox.

As The Two Lips took the stage as the opening act, the crowd roared with excitement, ready to immerse themselves in the music that has defined this new generation. Playing their hit songs like “clue” and “still love you (todavia),” the crowd swayed and sang along to the vocals of these beautiful sirens.

Following their electrifying performance, The Two Lips took time to connect with fans and snap photos, basking in the afterglow of their show. With the next act ready to take the stage, the band members shared how much they enjoyed performing at CSUF, leading us into an exclusive interview.

“We’re from Cerritos. This is one of our local colleges, and we always wanted to perform at a college near our hometown, which is really encouraging to come here, and we’re really interested as it was so fun,” said bandmates Julia Gurule and Andrea Flores.

Beyond the music, Snow Wife was next to perform and she delivered an entrancing performance. She danced with passion with her poppy and gritty style igniting the crowd. With carefully choreographed moves alongside her backup dancers, she commanded the entire stage. She also looked fantastic in her leopard print bodysuit and leather top. The performance was a sonic boom of creativity, leaving the audience buzzing long after the final note.

Paris Texas hit the stage with a different kind of energy. They did not bring the synchronized moves like Snow Wife, but they ignited the venue with their raw, unique take on American hip-hop. The crowd’s reaction was explosive – bodies bouncing, hands waving, and the cheers made it clear that Paris Texas was a highlight of the night. They performed a set that included bangers like “RokkOut” and “NüWhip,” keeping the energy at peak levels.

The duo behind the music, Louie Pastel and Felix, commanded the stage with their presence. They even brought out a special guest, DJ Ankle Sandwich, for a surprise collaboration that sent the crowd into a frenzy, proving that captivating an audience comes in many forms. The energy reached a fever pitch when DJ Ankle Sandwich jumped off the stage and started high-fiving the crowd. The barrier between performer and audience blurred as Louie Pastel and Felix connected with their fans up close and personal. At one point, a shirt was removed and tossed into the sea of hands, igniting a frenzy as fans clawed and reached to claim the coveted souvenir.

Last to perform was headliner Zack Fox, who brought it home with his transformative beats. The entire venue felt like a vibration, a field party with everyone on the same wavelength. His set was ultimately a great way to end the night, if you are into hip-hop, punk and electronic music. Fox’s performance lasted about an hour and the crowd was not ready for the event of the season to be over.

The concert was a captivating blend of music, energy and style. The artists delivered unforgettable performances that had the crowd singing along to every beat. The crowds created a palpable heat, adding to the already intense atmosphere. The concert was a true celebration of music and individuality, sure to positively impact everyone in attendance.
